Preserved flowers are real plants, harvested at the moment they are in full bloom. They have been perfectly preserved using natural glycerine and dyes. Your flowers will retain their natural beauty for many months.
Preserved flowers must not be placed in water or kept in a very humid environment.
The flowers are only suitable for interior use at room temperature, position away from heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces to avoid drying out the stems.
To preserve the colour of your flowers, position out of direct sunlight.
Your flowers have been preserved using natural dyes. To prevent transfer of colour, do not place in contact with fabrics or furnishings.
A humidity level of below 70% is recommended. At particularly humid times of the year the stems may leak small amounts of dye, if this happens use tissue to gently dry the stems and move them to a warm and dry location. Always protect polished or painted surfaces and soft furnishings.
Over time it may become necessary to lightly dust your flowers using a hairdryer. Always position the hairdryer at a metre distance from the flowers and use the cool setting.
How to style and arrange at home
Unbox and sort stems into groups.
Select your vase or vessel, we normally opt for opaque ceramics or coloured glass. Don’t worry about adding water, with preserved and dried stems it’s not required - bonus!
Measure your stems next to the vase and trim to fit. We recommend using varying stem lengths from 1.5 to 2 times the height of the vase. Always use sharp scissors or secateurs to cut your stems.
Now you can begin building up your arrangement. Start with structural stems and continue adding layers until you’re happy. At this stage it’s a good idea to keep in mind what style you’re after and where the finished arrangement will be displayed. Front facing with focal stems in full view? 360 all rounder or maybe asymmetrical? It’s up to you!
Make your final edits and you’re done. Take a step back and admire your handy work.
One of the best things about using preserved and dried (over fresh) is that you can rearrange & play around with different vase shapes, arrangement styles and placement every couple of weeks!
Although hand-tied bouquets arrive prearranged by our talented florists, we suggest the following;
Select your vase or vessel, please see above guidance on stem heights and vase sizes.
Untie the ribbon and whilst holding the bouquet with one hand, cut through the twine.
You can then place the full arrangement into your chosen vessel. Depending on the size of your vase you may want to trim down stems and rearrange a little to suit your personal taste.
Tip from our head florist:
If you have a taller vase you can pack out the inside with tissue paper or stuffing to get your desired height. For glass or clear vases you could opt for sand, stones or anything of that ilk. We always advise against using florists foam or ‘oasis’, due to it being non-biodegradable and toxic.
